Entertainment is one of the formative ways of promoting education, [i.e. edutainment] and awareness on relevant issues of environmental health concerns using scientifically based and cultural approaches and strategies to keep the world informed about how we can collectively keep safe our modern ecosystem for public health promotion.
The different entertainment aids components of modern innovations and technology includes electronic and printing media, social media, games and animations etc, which are used as a means to get to people from diverse group, region, race, sex, age and religion.
Game is full of fun, educative and rewarding. It tailors our minds to excellence when we stay focused and apply the rules associated with it. Game also simplify some of the challenges that has to do with realities of life essentially with waste management hierarchy (reduce, reuse, recycle), landscaping and vegetation control etc. Waste Collection Banks is a physical example. It is rewarding, entertaining and an effective way to protect the environment despite the fact that it may be done the hard way.
Social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc) also played significant roles in Covid-19 pandemic awareness campaign, and other programs relevant to environmental health protections, administration and management, as well as the print and electronic media either in term of stage play, movies, news, magazines, daily’s, animation etc.
The thought for this write up became so expedient that some of what we do or play with, or see are highly crucial and supportive to environmental health services advocacy among the people or society. For example, exhibition of 3R logo (reduce, reuse and recycle) at sport events, centres and regulated premises. We need to make this a reality by ensuring all regulated premises, organizations and events centres are enlightened through effective entertainment strategy to promote environmental health services.
Entertainment is an aspect of Environmental Health Profession that all intending professional must explore. I would love to implore every young professional to take environmental health journalism as part of their duty through appropriate learning skills, capacity building and trainings.
Entertainment helps to present the right information and engage public to positive attitude, problem solving, and network of ideas in environmental health business, research and innovations.
