An Abatement order has been awarded against 365 Hotel in Iyesi area of Ado-Odo/Ota local government, Ogun state, for blocking waterways with part of its building.
The order, which was secured at the Ota Customary court by Environmental Health Officers in Ado-Odo/Ota local government against an hotel, 365 Hotel in Iyesi, Ota for not showing up in court after several summons.
Ota Customary court, had on 3rd of February, 2021, penalized the hotel for blocking waterways and not allowing smooth flow of water in the area.
VOA News Correspondent gathered that Environmental Health Officers in the council had issued an ‘abatement notice’ to the management of the hotel, but had intentionally turned deaf ears to it.
Meanwhile, the matter was brought before an Ota Customary court it ruled that ‘abatement’ and ‘closing order’ be issued to the hotel management.
The court also awarded a fine, which is to be determined by the court and all accrued expenses be paid by the hotel management to the local government.
In a similar twist, one Mr. Abiodun Adekola, has been convicted and sentenced to 6 months imprisonment by Ayetoro Magistrates’ court for physically assaulting an Environmental Health Officer, Abijo Olalekan while he was discharging his lawful duties during Thursday market sanitation exercise.
In a chat with VOA News Correspondent, the Director of Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation, Mr. Salami has advised members of the public to desist from harassing Heath Officers who are working hard to ensure public health and safety.
