Residents of Ogun State have been urged to cultivate the habit of maintainance culture in order to preserve social amenities provided by government in their communities to ensure their longevity as this will also spur government to execute more developmental projects.
The State Commissioner for Rural Development, Engr. Taiwo Oludotun made this known at a training workshop organised by Ogun State Rural Water Sanitation Agency (RUWATSAN) for Community Self-Selected Water Sanitation and Hygiene Committee ( WASHCOM) in Yewa North Local Government Area of the State.
Oludotun, represented by the Director, Planning Research and Statistics, Mr. Adekunle Oyesanwen, said the primary aim of the training was to sensitise and handover 13 solar powered borehole projects constructed by State Government to benefiting communities to take ownership, maintain them as well as provide adequate security, that would guarantee their protection and longevity .
Also speaking, the Program Manager, RUWATSAN, Mr. Sola Ogunbo, said ‘’the idea of inaugurating WASHCOM members is to enhance longevity of the project as they would be the one monitoring the scheme in their respective communities as government cannot do it alone.
