OLORUNDARE ENIMOLA, Lagos
No fewer than five people were feared dead in a fatal crash that occurred this morning at about 0915hrs, near Christopher University towards BHN, [Outbound Lagos] on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Involved in the crash is a DAF truck with registration number, GGE 468 XX and a Toyota Hiace Bus with registration number SPR 373 XA, with 9 people (6male, 3female), occupants in the bus as confirmed on the passenger manifest.
According to an eye witness, the Toyota bus steering was locked in motion when the driver was trying to maneuver a broken truck on the highway, in the process the bus rammed onto the truck.
Four males were said to be injured, with three of them in critical situation while one was slightly injured.
Five people were presumed dead, including three females and two males.
The injured victims were rescued to Idera hospital while the presumed dead bodies were also deposited at Idera private morgue. The accidented vehicles have been towed to RCCG Police cage.
Traffic was initially affected, but later cleared by TRACE and other security agencies.
The road is now free and normalcy has been restored.
Seni Ogunyemi, Corps Commander, Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps, TRACE, commiserated with the victims of the accident, while admonishing, motorists to be more careful in the way they drive in this rainy season, advising them to reduce their speed and ensure their vehicle is in good order at all times.
