In the wake of latest development and outcries of his people in Ipokia Local Government area of Ogun State about the sting operation of men of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun I Command over the presidential directive to avert the diversion of foodstuffs outside the country, Otunba Bisi Oyedele-Citiside met with the Comptroller of Nigeria Customs Service, Ogun I Area Command over the excesses of some of his men in discharging their duties.
The Honourable met with the Comptroller of Nigeria Customs, Ogun I Command; foodstuff vendors and other notable stakeholders to fine-tune and sign a *Memorandum of Understanding* about the latest development in the face of food insecurity and inflation in the country. In the *MOU*, It was agreed that food transported to Ipokia Local Government must be for the consumption of the people therein.
After much dialogue, the comptroller declared the immediate release of all impounded foodstuffs and proclaimed an end to the seizure of foodstuffs along Owode-Idiroko road with immediate effect. Again, all foodstuffs brought to Ipokia Local Government must be for Ipokia Local Government residents and must not cross the borderline into the neighbouring countries, he firmly emphasized.
The Nigeria Customs boss also agreed to continually mount all borderlines across Ipokia Local Government to checkmate smuggling of foodstuffs and vowed that anyone caught travelling with food items across Ipokia Local Government borderlines would be arrested and would be made to face the full wrath of the law with the directive of the president.
Citiside appreciates the Nigerian Customs Service for being proactive and decisive with the matter in question. He implored the foodstuffs vendors to ensure they complied with the content of the memorandum of understanding and to be patriotic Nigerians and have the stability of the country at heart, which the foodstuffs traders pledged their allegiance to; in the course of the meeting.
