-Deji Imoleayo
Monday 14th September, at 12:30 hrs of the day, concerned youths drawn accross the lenght and breadth of the local government who are heirachys of Ipokia local government youth forum visited the DPO, Idiroko police command to familiarise with him and also discuss issues as it affects the majority from the acts of the officers attached to the NPF domiciled therein.
The meeting lasted for hours. The youths raised concerned about the numbers of road blocks in the most populous part of the local government and the manner at which the officers attached do seize vehicles belonging to the Indigenes/Citizens of the local government and the extortions. The DPO, availed the delegates information on reasons why it is always good to research into subject matters before conclusion as the say go that "seeing events should proceed believing such". The police head, Idiroko took the youths around for them to see first hand if there are vehicles that are seized and why they are seized. He ascertain the fact that there are bad eggs within the ranks but he is not here to add inflict pains on the people but to do that which will make his job as a security head safe.
The youths raised their concerns too and at the end, we got to some logical conclusions. It is pertinent for the citizens of the local government to note that when they do that which is right under the law, the NPF will also sit tight and the bad eggs among them will obviously be fished out by the heirachys.
Our fathers in their wise words say "BI IWO BA SE RERE, ARA KI YIO YA BI?" "Doing the right thing makes a human courageous and bold". He made us to know that 90% of the Motorcycles in our dear local government are unregistered and if such is used to perpetrate a crime or stolen, how will it be tracked or retrieved? He buttress his say with proven facts by showing us some law documents backing the seizure of unregistered vehicles.
The youths pleaded with him to be lenient with the manner at which he order his men to perform their duties and monitor them closely and promised to get the info of vehicular registrations to the entirety. Other issues were discussed and the meeting ended at about 16:00 hrs.
We are using this opportunity to implore the citizens and Indigenes of the local government to help ourselves by making sure we abide with the laws of our land. Registration of our cars and motorcycles will not only help the owner but will also be a form of revenue for the local government to use for developmental projects. Let us help ourselves so that we can robustly fight our right.
